Missions Ankeny Presbyterian Church actively participates in mission and provides financial support for mission activities. Focus on Mission… Two young adult APC members, Chad Schwickerath and Johanna Ruff, are serving the community by participating in an internship program sponsored by Westminster Presbyterian Church in Beaverdale. The program, SUMMIT (SUMmer MIssion Team) employs college-age students by placing them in various non-profit agencies throughout Des Moines to work for the summer. They participate in small group service projects, such as serving meals at homeless shelters, collecting food for DMARC, and distributing school supplies for low-income families. Chad is working at Children and Family Urban Ministries where he works with low-income kids at a day camp as well as helping staff with additional work and duties. Johanna is working at Hope Ministries with kids and families at the Hope Family Center and at the Hope Bargain Center sorting donations and handling vouchers. Each intern receives compensation in the form of a scholarship to their school or university at the end of the summer.
